This is a black & white version of the original.
A fresh look for Mr. Lincoln...inspired by the love for a Mother.
Lincoln's mother, Nancy Hanks Lincoln died in 1818, from milk sickness when he was 9 years old. Abraham's father married Sarah Bush Johnston the following year. Sarah, acknowledging young Lincoln's love of reading as apposed to manual labor on the family farm. Sarah nurtured his passion with the access to books and writing material.
Abraham Lincoln had a total of 12 months formal schooling...he taught himself everything else and went on to become the 16th President of the United States.
I am sure he felt a deep sense of love & gratitude, owing everything to his Mother.

Having grown up right smack dab in the middle of ole Abraham Lincoln's stomping grounds I have never lacked for ideas or inspiration being. I have always been creative, selling my wares as I go. I have worked with wood and restored antiques which in turn began a love of reclaimed & repurposed items. I am facinated with the story that lies within a piece, unkown at first glance. One of my favorite stories is in regards to these hearts that I carve out of old weathered wood. They are attractive in appearance but it is the back story that draws you in.
